Becoming an Officer
APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a United States Citizen
- Must have achieved a high school diploma; or a GED plus 12 hours college credit
- Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license and have a good driving record
- Must not have been convicted of a felony, nor can there be evidence of the commission of a felony
- No misdemeanor convictions of class B or above in the last 10 years
- No class C misdemeanor convictions involving theft or disorderly conduct by peeping or exposure
- Applicants with prior military service must have an honorable discharge (Form DD 214 required)
- Must have vision correctable to 20/20
- Must live within 30 minute response to the city
- Applicants with an active Texas peace officer license are preferred
